You’ve got, or at least have on order, your slice of Raspberry Pi and although it’s beautiful it its simplicity, it’s a tad vulnerable in its naked circuit board-form. Thankfully, someone’s thought ahead and is working on a 3D-printable case to protect your Pi.
As Marco Alici says in his blog post, the Pi isn’t designed with a case in mind – the ports and things don’t line up well, but it protects it well enough and it’s better than nothing that’s for sure. Keep an eye on Shapeways to be able to print your own soon. [MarcoAlici via Ubergizmo]
Sam, here’s an Idea. Assuming this guy makes this design available for others to use you could get the guys at 3DPrintUK to do a deal for Giz readers on printing it.

Me too, got that yesterday, but on Farnell it just says ‘Back ordered’
Apparently the RPi team have indicated that this ‘might’ be a mistake, as this date has been sent to everyone.
I think it’s only a mistake if you had previously been given another date. Personally I am hoping production gets ramped up faster than expected and all orders are filled sooner.

A WARNING TO ANYONE WHO WANTS THE RASPBERRY PI
I understand that there is another company producing a knock off and charging more than 10 times as much for it. Despite the claims of this company this product is nowhere near as fulfilling as the Pi. To add to the confusion this company has deliberately chosen a fruit based name. Remember it’s Raspberries you want, not Apples

You may or may not have noticed but I have not posted a word on any iPad related stories since the announcement and will continue this till the day after the UK launch. I have no intention of spoiling anyone’s enjoyment of their chosen tech.

Let him have his fun, he’s being a bit nasty to anyone who disagrees with him, but that’s his problem.
I know, he makes me cringe and laugh at the same time over his one-eyed apple support. If anyone is going to be first in line at the nearest apple store, it will be him.

I fear the cost of the case will be more than the cost of the Pi. I have a design waiting too, but am waiting for the Pi to arrive. In theory one of the first batch.
Just curious to know why so many people who already have working computers want one of these Pi’s what purpose do they serve? Am I missing something.
