You’ve just won the lottery and you’ve got a spare £600,000-odd burning a whole in your pocket; what do you spend it on when you’ve already got a Bugatti Veyron, a penthouse in Kensington, and a yacht bigger than my house? How about an absolutely massive TV? Panasonic’s commercial 4k2k, 152-inch monster plasma screen is now on sale to regular consumers in the UK, courtesy of the new technology section of Harrods.
The 600kg screen has four-times the resolution of your puny full HD TV, and is the same size as nine (!) 50-inch TVs stacked in three rows. It’ll even do 3D and has a 17:9 ratio that matches the cinema screen. I’m not sure I have a wall big enough in the house to take this, but then if you’re not phased by dropping over half a million quid on a TV, I doubt wall space will be an issue. What will be an issue, regardless of how rich you are, is finding 4K content to display on it…
Not the kind of thing I’d feel comfortable hanging on a wall!
That’s ok, I’m sure at that price Harrods will send round a couple of master craftsmen to fit the vesa bracket.
Perhaps they could remove ITV from the list of channels too…
With that money I’m sure they send a couple of master craftsmen to hold it for you while you watch! Bracketless-mounting.
Around 2.6×1.4m judging from the aspect ratio. I imagine you do have enough wall space, if you move the picture your in-laws gave you out of the way. The wall may need reinforcing so the behemoth doesn’t drag your house down, however.
Correction: It should say “a hole in your pocket” not “a whole”
I would hate to get dead pixels on that.
Imagine porn on this thing…
(don’t tell me you wasn’t thinking it (or am I a pervert? (I don’t want that question answering, btw)))
I answer your question with a Teal’c-esque raised eyebrow.
I reply with a charmingly boyish winkyface…
If I remember rightly there was a 500 inch TV on sale in John Lewis a while back (2007 christmas I think) , it didn’t have the resolution of this one obviously but I remember it being huge when I saw it on display in Oxford Street. I think it had also been pre purchased by someone but they weren’t allowed to have it until it had finished its tour of the country.
Can anyone confirm this or correct me if I’m wrong?
That would be almost 3 and a half times the size of the one above ?!? Are you sure ??
Do you mean 150 inch ?
More likely 50 inch, that would have been a big deal in 2007.
I rememeber them having a 100 inch which was priced at about £10k. Think it was Panasonic.
I wonder if i could convince them to let me review it for an “online blog” id only need it for about 2 years to fully review it… *Shifty eyes*
…we have a 16-inch box for a TV that isn’t connected to anything except an Xbox and a Wii… XD
