Hotel chain Holiday Inn has awkwardly tried to capitalise on the buzz around the Olympics and augmented reality, by combining the two. The result is a hotel full of random clips of athletes haunting the place, viewable through phones and tablets.
The weird promotional stunt sees windsurfer Nick Dempsey messing about on your bed with a sheet, BMX star Shanaze Reade doing tricks in the lobby and long jumper Chris Tomlinson jumping down corridors, leading the chain to claim it's invented "the world’s first Augmented Reality Hotel."
So if you like the idea of suspiciously hanging around hotel room corridors with your phone out, book yourself in to the London Kensington Forum branch of the Holiday Inn, where several seconds of mild amusement await. [Holiday Inn]
