The Galaxy note, a 5.3-inch plastic and electric goiter of a hybrid crap phablet, has surprisingly taken off with the human population. And, seemingly, elephants, in Samsung’s latest bizarre PR stunt.
If you try to ignore the grinning actress pretending to be playing with this jungle beast, the Note actually looks normal-sized! Normal-sized in comparison to the trunk of a large elephant. Look as the elephant strums a virtual guitar, enjoys the stylus, and even takes pictures! Its trunk is actually able to wrap itself around the phone, like some sort of massive, distended human hand.
It looks like it’s enjoying itself—and why not? It is a phone designed for giants, and the elephant is a regal giant of the animal kingdom. The next video in this series will be a mouse using the Note as a luxurious bed. [Daily What]

Surely it would only be a surprise to a big flaming idiot that such a great device would take off. I’ve spend most of my time carrying around A5 sketch pads, fine line pens, watercolour boxes, camera and phone – while you may see this device as a problem I see it as a major solution.
Tip: Nothing wrong with a technology writer being out of touch and out of step, many are, it just may be wise not to draw peoples attention to the fact every five minutes

guess what, i own one too, i had a tablet and i had no use for it at home when i have a laptop, i had small phone and got bored of looking at the web and playing games on a tiny screen
i got a note, i now practically have a portable computer, mp3/podcast player, sketch book, web browser, games console and it all fits in my pocket “yes it fits just fine in my pocket”
no its not the perfect device but the size is just fine and the reason there are so many form factors is so people can have a choice, if you dont like it fine, but stop being so pathetically biased!

The problem is the Giz US posts, they used to be great a couple of years ago and then all went downhill. If it wasn’t for Giz UK I would have given up on Giz. There are one or two GIZ USA writers that are worth reading. Oh and Whitson Gordon from Lifehacker he really knows his s**t. The Giz UK staff are really good though.

If Apple’s next iPhone had an incarnation the same size as the Note, they’d be falling over themselves to worship it.
I don’t have one, btw, but I think the concept is sound – especially for small business owners, etc.

I dispute that. Considering I’ve owned two iPhones and a Galaxy S2, and am looking to buy an iPad in the next month or so.
I’ve never seen the point of fanboyism. My comment was based on my observation of how Giz has treated the Note, and the much more favourable treatment I believe they’ve shown towards Apple, that’s all

Saw one for the first time the other day and it took me a second to realise what it was… it just seems too big for a phone, but too little for a tablet… doesn’t look comfortable to have in a pocket (I’m assuming it won’t fit in your jeans, so if you don’t have a coat/bag where do you put it?!)
