Bad news I’m afraid my fellow avid Raspberry Pi-buyers – if you didn’t manage to snag one in the melee before it sold out, there’s going to be at least a month’s wait till more stock rolls into the UK.
Talking to MacWorld UK, Raspberry Pi’s founder, Eben Upton, said: “We believe there’s about a one month to six week lead time for the next serious volume batches to get into the market.”

On the plus side, it gives the devs another month to improve the software offerings that will go with it.
Only if the devs were some of the lucky ones to get one.
Really fascinated by this project. I hope it makes computing more accessible for young programmers.
I grew up on the ZX80 and its successors and the Glorious Beeb. I think there’s a lot to be said for computers that offer nothing that a prompt when powered on.
That said, I very much doubt it will get young people interested any more than anything else.
Why would they want to program this if they don’t want to program a PC? Somebody who’s got no interest in programming isn’t gonig to be impressed by the nuance that this is ARM.
It’s just a small computer with no case. They’re not going to care if they don’t already.
But the cost is so accessible, at £20.
I wasn’t looking to get one in the 1st release – trying to avoid early adopter syndrome this time (and I’d like to see cases before I buy a couple) but it’s really gratifying to see how well the project has taken off.
I kinda suspected that it would be sold out straight away.
Hope that the people who did manage to get hold of them use them for good and aren’t the type who just buy to resell at a profit on ebay… Saw that happen to Pier Solar…
I’m hoping that as I managed to “register my interest” at RS pretty close to 6 on the day that I am not too far down the list. Just a case of waiting for the email to arrive.
Does this take into account the fact that RS didn’t process ANY orders on launch day? There could be quite a load at the end of next week winging their way to people much sooner…
