We heard it was coming, but today the BBC iPlayer has officially launched on the Xbox for free; now you can catch-up on Auntie’s content on all major consoles. On the Xbox you’ll have the benefit of full Kinect control too, meaning you can wave and shout while you scowl at The Apprentice contestants making a complete tit out of themselves.
It’s taken this long for the iPlayer to hit the Xbox because Microsoft wanted to shove it behind its Xbox Live Gold account paywall, which would’ve contravened the TV licence rules for the BBC. Thankfully Microsoft relented, meaning all you need to grab a slice of BBC catch-up is a free Xbox Live account and an internet connection. [BBC]
