That very odd “Wake up!” marketing stunt that was oh so conveniently filmed was believed to be paid for by Samsung, which is going all-out to label iPhone users as sheep in the run up to its big Galaxy S III announcement. However, the Apple user wake up call may have been RIM’s idea of a joke instead.
According to Mac Talk, the Wake Up Australia domain name linked to the bizarre staged flash mob contains Doubleclick account code that has previously been associated with RIM’s Australian office, so it could well be that the BlackBerry maker is joining Samsung in launching a bizarre hate campaign against the world’s most popular smartphone manufacturer. Manufacturer of the worlds most popular smartphone != world’s most popular smartphone manufacturer. Just sayin’
Must be sad to fund an ad campaign but end up creating buzz for a competitor instead.
That’s just the way things are going for RIM right now. If they bent down to pick up a pound coin off the street thy’d stick their arse through a plate glass window.
And Samsung would get blamed for it.
Insulting me for choosing a different phone to your companies is not going to make me think about buying one of yours.
I hope you die soon RIM, it’s becoming a bit of a joke now.
Completely agree, they should focus on winning customers by making a superior product rather than this BS.
Why would I want to wake up from my smart phone dream and experience the horrible smart phone reality?
ahhh RIM sadly I bought a secondhand BlackBerry and getting O2 to sort out BIS for it has been a nightmare
Surely the world’s most popular smartphone manufacturer is the smartphone manufacturer which sells the most smartphones? Who is that Gary?
I reckon its Apple doing this themselves.. to get some attention away from s3
