If you happen to be lucky enough to be holding one of the first few Raspberry Pis that made it out the door, then you could be sitting pretty. Right now they’re selling thick and fast on eBay for record sums, with one or two even going for over £150 – not a bad profit if you’re not too attached to it. But then that’s a bit against the spirit of the Pi, which has just had its schematics laid bare to the world too.
While I’m pretty excited about the prospect of getting one of these mini-marvels in for a play, there’s no way I’m going to be shelling out over £100 on one – that’s just crazy talk. But apparently some people are that desperate.
Would any of the Giz UK Pi-craving folk consider dropping a ton or more on one from eBay? Or better yet, would anyone with a board already fancy turning a quick and sizable profit?
Thanks David!

The Pibow Is the Best-Looking Raspberry Pi Case Ever
I’ve waited this long for one, I’m sure I can wait just a little longer without forking out 6x its original price.
£150 is a bargain compared with the £3500 that PI no.1 went for in the charity auction http://www.electronicsweekly.com/blogs/open-source-linux/2012/01/raspberry-pi-number-1-goes-for-3500-on-ebay.html
Yes, but I doubt it would have gone for that price WITHOUT it being a charity auction.
That said, I am stoked that I will get to play with one this weekend. My unboxing photos also got reblogged on the official Raspberry Pi blog, so I’m feeling pretty chuffed at the moment.
I kinda hate you right now, I’m still waiting for my Pi, probably not coming for another month, so I am really jealous. I’m also pretty sure I won’t be the only one.
Only reason I can’t play with it now is that I don’t have a properly power supply. The idiot seller I bought one from on ebay gave me a lower rated power supply what only gives 500 mA instead of 700mA. More info:

It’s still useful for me without a power so I can get accurate dimensions for building a case (I feel like I should get one ready for the next GizUK meet)
Dear lord, my spelling and grammar is all over the shop. Must be a Friday.
I take it you don’t have an Android phone then.
I do, but I’m doing this at my desk while I’m doing other things (multitasking? me?!)
No I meant for the power supply, doesn’t you phones supply give you enough juice for the pi?
Haven’t tried it yet as I can’t find the wall adapter thingy ;P
I gave my R-Pi priority order to GizUK user Pr1sm, he should be receiving it by early next week I think if he hasn’t done so already
I’m waiting on getting mine with my free T-Shirt…roll on June lol
Hey jpxdude, I wanted to say that you are quite awesome for doing that for Pr1sm – especially in the face of some people on ebay who are charging £150+ for one.
Seconded. You’re one cool dude.
Thank you both
I was only passing it on as I’m not in the biggest rush for one, glad someone will be making good use of one shortly!
Dude, I noticed you are on G+ but don’t seem to use it, would you do so more if you were to join the happy band of Gizzers who are in the Giz UK Circle.
Yes I probably would, I will have a look on in a mo and see what I find
Thanks for the heads up!
I will add you to the circle then send it to you.
Just to Add, if anyone else wants in locate me on G+ and send me a message.
