This Is the Future of Internet Games

The days are numbered for those rubbishy Flash-based games that litter the time-waster game space. We’ve already seen Quake III Arena play in your browser, but that needed a plug-in. Now meet the Half-Life Headcrab that’s rendered, incredibly, using just HTML5 and WebGL – now this is what I call internet gaming.

You can test out the animated character demo for yourself, as long as your browser is up-to-date that is. Looking at how well it handles all the animations Valve packed into its first Black Mesa outing, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the whole of Half-Life turn up as an in-browser game. Occupy Flash would be so proud. [Geek]
