Nokia’s bonkers 41-Megapixel 808 phone has been priced up, with SIM-free retailers telling us it’ll come with a £538 price tag attached to it. You could get a proper phone for that. Or three of them.
While the Symbian-powered model was always going to come in at a premium because of its high-end camera sensor technology, asking top-whack for a Symbian model in this day and age is surely high street suicide for Nokia. Nokia is standing outside a branch of Phones4U with a shotgun in its mouth. It won’t end well.
At least, once the Symbian nightmare is out of the way, Nokia should start putting the sensor into its Windows Phone range. Which may make it a little more appealing. Just a little. [Clove via Slashgear]

Still sounds like a bargin, you’re paying for a high-end compact digital camera and you get the phone for free. £538 doesn’t sound like much if you really want that camera.
I’ll be waiting for it on the Widnows Phone before I buy one.
Depends what the pics are really like. You’re probably better off just getting the 2 items separate.
Announcing exclusivity with Windows Phone was suicide. This is just them bleeding out into the bathwater.
If nokia had gone with android they would be kings of the world along with samsung and apple.

You can sign in using either your wordpress username, or the email account tied to it. Tried signing up with email, and tw@panda was already taken on a wordpress account… which would be me. On here. With this account. Using the same email address on here and gravatar… so I kept trying, and nothing has worked so far. I shall forever remain avatarless.

What phone has NFC, HDMI out, USB OTG, FM Transmitter, HD voice calling, an app store with 100,000+ apps. Official Microsoft Apps Word/Powerpoint/Excel/OneNote/Lync/Document Connection etc. All the symbian features like bluetooth file transfer etc.
Add to that a Xenon flash + awesome camera, CD quality stereo Audio recording.
How many of those features are on an iPhone? How many Android phones have half those features? What about Windows Phone, Blackberry? What “real phone” are you talking about?

Symbian OS, for all its design faults, is a real, multi-processor, multi-tasking operating system. It is difficult to use but it allows complex features to be added.
Get used to it. Symbian OS will be around for quite a while, mainly because it is now, like Android, open source. The wizards in Symbian solved problems that Microsoft doesn’t even realize it has.
Don’t blame the platform for the products. Nokia is in this position because it ignored the iPhone.
what always get me is why they always mention the sim free price
majority of people who get mobiles get them on contract or upgrades
so they wont be just paying over £500
i dare bet you could get ths phone free on say £35 a month contract with 500 free mins and unlimited text which is cheap
