Blogs Are Way More Dangerous Than Porn

By Sam Gibbs on at

We used to say that if you'd managed to get a virus on your computer, you'd been visiting too many dodgy porn sites. Apparently that's not the case any more; porn is actually pretty safe, and it's those pesky blogs you have to worry about.

Symantec's released its latest annual Internet Security Threat report, truly a riveting read. What might surprise you though, is that instead of porn being a malware danger zone, it's actually quite safe, ranking last in Symantec's danger list. In fact, it's blogs and "web communication sites" that you better watch out for; apparently some 20 per cent of them are infected with malicious code. Just 2 per cent of porn sites were found to be a malware haven, but considering the internet is porn, even 2 per cent is a fair few.

Here's betting hipster blogs are the most dangerous. Careful where you stick your pointer folks. [Symantec via CBS]
