It's official: robots are taking over. While for years now, we have enjoyed the knowledge that our beloved expensive Canon DSLR cameras have been cared for and manually-assembled with a delicate touch by the fine craftsmen and engineers at the company. But that reassurance might soon be over, as Canon look forward to the future of robotic assembly.
A Canon spokesperson announced that the company would be moving towards a fully-automated, robotic construction line, leaving the humans responsible for crafting the cameras to work in other areas in the company. Canon did not say when the change to our future robot overlords would be totally complete, but the company plans on automating the process by 2015. Hopefully this could lead to slightly reduced prices on cameras, but it could also push forward a lot more innovation. [SlashGear]
