O2 Porn Pirates to Get a Nasty Surprise In the Post

By Sam Gibbs on at

Those who had their fill of pirated porn over O2's broadband network are about to get a nasty surprise in the mail. Ben Dover productions is just about to start sending out its demands to the smut smugglers, having finally gotten High Court approval.

Apparently the porn baron will only go after those who uploaded movies; if you downloaded just one skin flick you'll probably be OK. The letters will have a 28-day response clause in them, asking for negotiations towards settlements. We know Ben Dover is looking for at least £700 for each case, as it was told not to specifically demand that sum by the court.

It'll be interesting to see just how many people actually get sent these letters, and how much Ben Dover gets out of the 9,000-odd infringers. Whatever happens, I doubt that'll be the letter you were expecting to land on your doormat. [BBC]
