Here’s another thing for the pile of patriotic rubbish we’ll all be slowly accumulating as the summer rolls on, a special Olympic themed version of Samsung’s popular Galaxy Note phone/tablet Android device.
And it’s not exactly what you’d call a hand-crafted exclusive. Samsung’s just putting in an (actually quite stylish) flag-covered alternate back cover in the box with the Galaxy Note, plus the maker will donate a slightly stingy £1 to an Olympic funding charity each time it sells one of these custom Notes.
The Olympic Note pack will be sold exclusively through O2 in the UK, which will also be bundling a chance to “win a Team Samsung experience” in with each phone, as long as you act before May 24th. [Samsung via GSM Arena]

A Set of Union Jack Clippers Is Your "Viva Skinheads!" Deal of the Day
PSA: "Unticketed" Doesn't Mean Free Olympic Events
Is This Jack The Ripper's Knife?
*cough* Union Flag! *cough*
Yep, what he said, but without the coughing. It’s only the Jack when hung from a ship. On the other hand if we are going to correct every colloquialism on the internet we may be here awhile.
Also if you put “Union flag” I would bet most people would think you were on about the EU flag! Haha
Other peoples’ ignorance is no excuse for being wrong. If anything it provides greater incentive to ensure accuracy so as not to perpetuate their incorrectness.
Udimion, your attention to detail is far greater than most
“You’ve hung it upside down!”
I was gong to say the same thing …then again maybe this one was made to be used on a ship?
Hey it’s a Galaxy Note. Stick a sail on it and it’s big enough to be used as a ship
Brings a whole new meaning to the term ‘flagship device’.
Badum-Tish !!!
You beat me to it. I need to check Gizmodo more often.
Why all this hate about patriotic products?
Because it’s not really patriotism. It’s exploitation of the olympics in the hope of making a few extra quid.
Tourist dollars are worth more than regular dollars!
It’s the same as those London souvenirs and T shirts with red postboxes on them. People love all that.
