The legend that is Sir David Attenborough is a pioneering soul, and he believes that nature in 3D is the future. To start, he's just given a bunch of plants the 3D treatment, because it's a heck of a lot easier to film plants than it is animals with a hulking great 3D camera set-up. With the magic of timelapse, you'll apparently get to see mice eating plants and all manner of strange going-ons, but there's a catch.
Unfortunately you'll have to have Sky to witness this new Attenborough spectacular from Kew. Kingdom of Plants is being shown on Sky 3D this Saturday at 6pm. If you're not keen on 3D, but can't get enough of Sir David, it'll also be in 2D for you on Sky Atlantic.
For those of us who haven't got Sky, the whole thing will be recut into an IMAX movie and make it onto DVD and Blu-ray in June. It's just a shame it's not on the BBC, but with the lack of a consistent 3D broadcast out of Auntie, I guess the 86-year-old Attenborough had to go where the technology was. [Sky via Cnet]
