Samsung Patents a Nintendo DS-Like Android Tablet

That thing up there is a concept sketch uncovered inside a Samsung patent application, which hints at a very odd, clamshell future for the company's Android hardware plans.

The patent in question, filed in March of 2011, has Samsung copying the interesting design of folding Sony's bizarre Tablet P, offering two touch screens to play with, along with stylus/pointer support akin to that included in the company's surprisingly popular Galaxy Note.

The patent describes the concept as being an "ornamental design for a mobile phone" so this could, perhaps, be an idea for a phone that pops open to magically become a tablet as well. That'd be a very interesting concept, should it ever actually be made real by Samsung's tech people. [Cnet]
