This Audi Designed Electric Bike Is Pure Carbon-Fibre Porn

By Jon Partridge on at

Electric bikes have always looked really dorky and cumbersome, and they just don't have the same design appeal as their more traditional, manual cousins -- especially gorgeous fixies. But Audi, of course, has taken the formula, cranked it up to 11, and came out with something that oozes sex appeal and will have any bike nerd lusting after it.

Next week in Austria, Audi is presenting this monstrosity of a performance electric bike, dubbed the W├Ârthersee, which is designed for sports and tricks. Packing a lithium-ion battery and a carbon-fibre reinforced polymer frame, the whole thing rolls on 26-inch, carbon-fibre reinforced plastic wheels and features five different riding modes: pedal-only, electric-assist, electric-only and two different stunt riding modes that assists with wheelies.

While the specs impress, what's even more impressive is that it touts an on-bike touchscreen computer that interfaces with a smartphone via wireless. And wait, there's more -- video recorded via a helmet cam can be uploaded straight away via the mobile device. Audi, I think I'm in love. [Designboom, ExpertReviews]
