Losing an iPhone is the absolute worst. The inconvenience, the expense… Just terrible. So, when a good samaritan gets in touch to let you know she’s found your phone, the appropriate response ought to be gushing, gurgling gratitude. Right?
One Virginia woman would tell you that this is not always the case. DCist reports that, whilst shopping at her local Fredericksburg 7-Eleven, the woman, 53, picked up an iPhone that had fallen on the floor. Do-gooder that she is, the woman proceded to contact the phone’s owners (a man and a woman) and arranged to meet them at a neutral location to make the exchange.
Everyone showed up as planned, and the transaction was completed without a hitch. They even gave her a monetary reward.
So WHY IN GOD’S NAME did they rush the woman from behind, while she was walking away, throw her to the ground, kick her, and reclaim their cash? Why? WHY?
The whole thing stinks of a scam… except they stole back their own cash. Seems like a pretty elaborate scheme, just to beat on some poor, unsuspecting soul. [DCist - Image via raluca teodorescu/Shutterstock]

Maybe she told them they could have the iPhone back IF they pay her?
the explanation that they’re just extremely weird people is possible, but ur suggestion seems much more likely
She was blackmailing them with their homemade porn.
Those fuckers should be castrated.
There are so many flaws in your argument.
Firstly, there was only one man to be castrated.
Secondly, if that man was castrated, he wouldn’t exactly be a “fucker” as you suggested.
Swiss cheese my friend. Swiss cheese.
I think his biggest flaw is his name – in that Super Mario is absolutely not crap!
This amounts of failure begs for a red alert.
It is true what you have said and I thank you for enlightening me on this matter. It seems that I had been blind to the greatness of the little Italian man.
It is thanks to your revelation that I shall let it be known to the world via my gizmodo profile, that super mario, is in fact, NOT crap.
I greatly appreciate this gesture,
Signed,
Luigi
it was to CaptainLove btw
There are so many flaws in your argument: it is still possible to have intercourse after castration; the poster may have been referring to both the subjects in the article; finally, the use of “should” indicates that they are currently a “fucker”, and deserve to be castrated (although this would not impair said fucking as I have pointed out).
In order to clarify my position on the matter I will expand on the various components of my initial statement. It appears that I did not adequately convey the message that I had originally intended to tell.
Those: The male and female subjects of this story (evil) which brutally attacked the good Samaritan.
Fuckers: Whether or not said evil subjects actually committed acts which could be defined as fucking is irrelevant. I had intended to use the word in a derogatory manner in order to belittle the evil subjects.
should be: the following verb(s) should be executed onto the evil subjects
castrated: I admit this is probably the most vague element of my initial statement and is in requirement of the most clarification.
For the evil male I propose that his testicles be removed by the use of rusty pliers. I believe this method to be sufficiently painful during the act of testicle removal. It will also have the added benefit of possibly causing tetanus infection for long lasting physical damage. The act of testicle removal should also cause the evil male to suffer from trauma and lifelong humiliation. It will also contribute to the improvement of mankind as a whole by removing the possibility of him producing any (further) offspring. Damage to the penis and surrounding areas as a result of the testicle removal procedure is acceptable.
For the evil female the removal of sexual organs would require the efforts of an actual surgeon. Using a non-qualified medical professional may lead to the death of the evil female and thus spare her of any life-long suffering. The efforts of a genuine doctor, however, should not be wasted on this piece of scum, and so I propose a much simpler punishment – chemical sterilisation. While it may not cause her to suffer a similar form of humiliation as the evil male it should cause her sufficient mental anguish knowing that she is incapable of breeding. This will also lead to the betterment of society for the same reason that the castration of the male would.
I hope that I have cleared up any misunderstandings.
The story makes no sense, must be more to it.
Later on under questioning the real story came out – she gave them the iPhone, they gave her a reward and as she turned away she muttered, ‘No need to give me that much, its not like you lost a S2′ – Bang.
maybe it was a prototype iPhone 5 and it was Apple.
Yup. they just figured it was easier to pretend to pay her instead of illegally searching her house for it
Here’s the issue which I am surprised that no one else picked up on!!! Mike1_2 almost got it but missed the crucial bit of text… They stole back THEIR own money…. Right?? So she did ask them for money, which in my books immediately takes her away from being a good samaritan and lands her firmly on the pedestal of another money grabbing scum back pretending to be the victim!! I would not be surprised if she did blackmail them, Hence the beating… (still a massive overreaction) BUT slightly more understandable.. Slightly!
The article suggests that they gave it to her as a reward, it doesn’t really say whether she asked for it or they offered it. I’d be happy to give somebody a pack of beers or something if they returned my lost iPhone…
The story would have originated from her (I doubt they’d have told the press) and I doubt she’d have said she demanded money.
no, but she may have said that they gave her money and then took it back when they beat her up. I think essentially there are too many unknowns in this story.
Just a little suspect isn’t it.. Too many wretches in the world to believe. Which in itself is tragic.
My first thought was they assumed she’d stolen it in the first place…
