Apple/Samsung Patent War Latest: US Injunction Against Galaxy Tab 10.1 Granted

By Gary Cutlack on at

The bizarre, global legal circus Samsung and Apple are conducting has broken new ground in the US, where a judge has granted Apple an injunction against Samsung, stopping it from selling its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet over the latest set of patent claims.

The ruling, which is already being appealed by Samsung, found that the Galaxy Tab is likely to have infringed on Apple design patents rather than anything found inside Samsung and Google's software this time, with the judge, Lucy Koh, saying: "Although Samsung has a right to compete, it does not have a right to compete unfairly, by flooding the market with infringing products."

The same judge will soon be ruling on another Apple/Samsung case, this time covering broader technical software patents potentially unfairly inside the Samsung-made Galaxy Nexus. [FOSS Patents via Telegraph]
