Having just dumped a load of new models on the world, Apple left out the 13-inch MacBook Pro from its Retina Display upgrade, much to my dismay. According to new rumours, Apple is working on a Retina 13-incher, it just hasn't released it yet.
The rumour comes from battery testing logs, which show that a MacBook Pro 10,2 with a pretty beefy 6,580mAh battery was being tried out. The new 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro is coded as MacBook Pro 10,1, so does that mean 10,2 is a 13-inch Retina version? I really hope so.
Of course, this could just be a miss-labelled 15-incher on Apple's test bench, or it could easily be one of Cupertino's other prototypes, but the battery size and naming scheme could carry some weight. I'm not sure why Apple would design a 13-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro and not announce it at WWDC though -- perhaps there were supply or quality issues -- but I'm hoping that we'll see it slip out to join its bigger brother in the next couple of months, maybe with a new Mac Pro and iMac?
