Facebook Trials System to Declare Some Posts More "Important" Than Others

By Gary Cutlack on at

A new test Facebook feature has been spotted and screencaptured by a user in Australia, with the social network giving him the chance to "Announce" his status update to ensure it's seen by all of his friends.

The status update box was altered to give the chap the option to turn his update into what Facebook refers to as an announcement, which then forces the post to the top of the timelines of friends, thanks to its more-important-then-thou status setting.

The dialogue box popped up after he'd posted an update, giving him the option of adding extra weight to it, so that everyone gets/is forced to see it. But what happens when everyone, in a modern fit of self-importance, hits the button every time they post any random fact about their hollow lives? [The Register]
