On stage at Google I/O, engineering director Chris Yerga announced a bunch of new content coming to Google Play (formerly known as the Android Market).
Starting today in the US, you can now purchase TV shows — full episodes or entire seasons — in the store, as well as movies. Magazines are also coming, with "hundreds of titles" from a bunch of major publishers, including Hearst, who Yerga name-checked. This is good for the store, but the thing is, these are the kinds of features that have been available in the App Store and on Amazon (at least in the US) for years. Let's hope the UK gets a slice of the tasty-looking new content too.
