Chain mail is something generally associated with medieval-era warriors. But as a material for modern architecture, it's not so much the first thing that comes to mind, not to mention implemented in designs. That's why eeing it put into use as part of the Kukje Gallery in Seoul is pretty awesome.
The SO-IL-designed building required 510,000 links handmade by Chinese craftsmen, the chain mail drapes over the lift shaft, stairwell and sides of the building, giving the geometric edges of the main structure a few organic curves. This is where we want to be if facing attack from some dark-ages foe. We think. [Dezeen]
