Indie Android Developers Manage to Nearly Double the Speed of Android 4.0

A very talented team of coders have done some astonishing optimisation of Google's Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android, managing to get parts of the code running nearly twice as fast as Google's own team.

The new build of Android 4.0.4, which the makers are calling Linaro, is shown in the above lo-fi demonstration video running on a standard Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 processor, with Linaro absolutely crushing a standard version of the code running the same tech demo on the same hardware.

Better still, those who enjoy installing custom ROMs will be pleased to hear the Linaro enhancements are already being considered for inclusion within the CyanogenMod hacked ROM versions, so even if Google declines to clone the enhancements there should still be a way for most enthusiasts to boost the performance of their phones and tablets.
