What with people hurling themselves out of planes with Google Glass strapped to their faces yesterday, and the surprise announcement that yes, the UK will be getting the Nexus 7 tablet and it’ll actually be cheap, it was easy to miss the fact that the UK isn’t on the list for that fancy Nexus Q.
Stephen Rosenthal, Google UK’s communications manager, told Pocket Lint “there are no plans as yet” for a British roll out of the Nexus Q. That doesn’t mean we’ll never see it on our shores, of course, but unlike the Nexus 7, it’s not going to be here anytime soon.
Whether we actually care about a small, yet pricy circular Google media streamer that’s not Google TV, I’m not so sure. Something tells me we’ll have to wait till the Google Play Store gets fleshed out with more content for the UK before a media streamer like that is actually worthwhile. [Pocket Lint]

Nexus Q Teardown: Not as All-American as You Think
Maybe I just don’t get it, but why would anyone buy one of these over a xbox 360 or similar?
agreed
I assume that they have done at least SOME market research and think they have a market, personally I have a Raspberry PI that will be doing all my media streaming.
Only reason that I can see is that it’s smaller, but in that case, couldn’t you just get the Apple TV?
I don’t know, does the Apple TV (or Xbox for that matter) have a built in audiophile quality Amp? Like I said above, I assume they have a market they are aiming to sell to.
It does have a built in 25W amp, and the NFC pairing is quite neat, but it’s still nothing on an Xbox.
I nearly fell over when I heard the Nexus 7 was coming to the UK and I almost went to an optician after I saw the price to check my eyes weren’t playing tricks. I’m not hugely surprised we’ve been passed over for the Nexus Q since Google Music isn’t even in the UK yet and since the purpose of this device is streaming music/video…well, you get the gist.
Sam, are you interested in my writing an article about how to access Google Music from the UK. If I had a pound for everyone who says “Google Music isn’t even in the UK yet” I could probably retire.
No offence meant to you lwsrbrts.
I know I will probably bust into flames by posting an Engadget link here but..

You don’t have to use their complicated proxy program. Some browser based ones will work too..
Any tips on a decent browser proxy – everyone I’ve tried so far has failed.
I can’t remember the one I used. Might have been from here? http://www.proxy4free.com/list/webproxy_country14.html
Thanks for the link. I think Google may be learning (or I’m just rubbish at the internet) because every time I sign into music, it just says it can’t do nothing because JavaScript isn’t running.
I wish it was officially here. I set it up making the store think i was in the US, but i’m certain you need a US based payment option to buy music from there. Can’t say i’ve tried with paypal though as i shut my account down (darn hackers!)
Stick it on G+
How does this price up to something like a Sonos for multi room streaming? I thought that was more what they were going for :S
So Google invent Google TV to be run on TV connected boxes, then they release their own TV connected box and it doesn’t run Google TV?
It requires an Android phone for it to work, and you can’t even push content from the required phone like airplay. and it costs $300. This is going to sell well.
