That fancy new Windows Phone 8 start screen certainly looks awesome. So awesome in fact that iPhone users might feel a wee twinge of jealousy looking at it. No matter though — someone’s ported all that Metro goodness from Windows 8-proper to the iPhone and you can grab it right now.
It uses DreamBoard, one of our favourite jailbreak apps, and even includes a “desktop view” just like Windows 8, which boots you back to the traditional iOS home screen. Somehow I reckon this would work even better on the iPad. Yours for $1.50, or just under a quid, from the ModMyi repo on the Cydia store. [Jailbreak Nation via Ubergizmo]

I wonder if the tiles are actually live because that would be really cool and add one major functionality that I’d miss with iOS.
Won’t work on mine – not even showing as being installed.
Ignore that – working now. Looks good – only issue is the IE link loads Safari up, even though I have Chrome set to default. Would be nice if I could change the buttons about too as the camera and phone icon is on the far right (or what would be the 3rd screen) and the calendar takes up a lot of space on the first screen but is not something I use.
The guy on the video (Tom) has one of the strangest voices I’ve ever heard. He annunciates certain consonant sounds with a really harsh unnatural, broken staccato which sounds like a posh robot…but then lazily stumbles through “th” sounds like he’s from some dodgy South London estate (so “think”, “thing” and “theme” become “phink”, “phin” and “pheme”).
My brain got completely confused listening to him. As someone with a Scouse mum, Irish dad, an upbringing on a dodgy West London Estate, time spent living in Germany, Liverpool, Glasgow, Cornwall and having met a variety of very International people…I’ve encountered many accents…as well as combinations of accents.
But I’ve never heard anything like that. I had to listen to it three times!
What is your analysis of this?

His accent always sounded odd to me.
See…it’s not terrible…but he’s GOT to be taking the piss. The frequency of his voice is all over the place and he keeps speeding up and slowing down in all the wrong places.
It has characteristics of a South Wales accent or a Californian accent, not in accent but in terms of it’s odd intonations…but with none of the charm of the aforementioned. It reminds me a little of Mr. Blobby’s voice…but with words. (Glad it’s not you! Wouldn’t want to come across as harsh!)
I might be being pernickety but when people put together videos like this…they should take the opportunity to listen back to what they sound like and ensure that its all coherent and smooth. I don’t mind an accent, but you should be trying to hold people’s attention with these things and inform, not distract them…
continually amazed at how talented individuals are – put half that funct into iOS and it would be applauded at a Keynote
The DreamBoard skins are cool, but much more trouble than they’re worth. Barely functional, and use lots of memory.
