We’ve seen quite a few people come up with awesome 3D-printable and home-made cases for the Raspberry Pi, but none of them have looked quite this cool. The Pibow is from the chap who designed the Raspberry Pi logo itself, and it’s probably the best case you can buy pre-made for just £10.
It’s apparently solid, with no rattling; is modular with a colourful set of side pieces complete with a clear back and front, and a proportion of the profits go back to the Pi Foundation. It’s just 10-quid, plus £2.50 shipping within the UK, and you can put it together yourself so you feel like you’ve actually achieved something too.
So, if you haven’t already printed one off for yourself, you can order one now from the Pibow website. The only small snag is you’ll have to wait about three weeks for it to be delivered because it’s rather popular right now. [Pibow via Raspberry Pi]

In the spirit of the Raspberry Pi, isn’t this rather expensive?
It comes in at 40% roughly of the cost of the Pi itself, isn’t that like buying an iPad case for £130?
It is gorgeous though.
No, it’s £10. Thinking of it as 40% of the thing it encases and then using an overpriced product as an example is just silly. There is a lower limit on cost of materials, you cannot expect pricing to scale comparatively.
But the spirit of the Raspberry Pi, is that it is very low cost, surely that’s the exciting part and what you are buying in to?
Personally prefer mine http://goo.gl/J78Me but the Pibow is quite pretty.
Nice coverage, GizUK. Will forward on to my dad, who blogged his at http://www.raspi.co.uk
Price wise, £10 is a reasonable amount for a case and this one is a nice design (not sure about the Fisher Price colours, but there you go).
Great design but HATE the rainbow colour scheme used. I want ALL clear, ALL black or ALL white. I don’t want my Pi to look like I’m about to take it on some march through San Francisco.
It’s not intended for gadget geeks, it’s intended for the kids at whom the project is primarily aimed at. Kids like colourful stuff.
Personally, I think it looks pretty shiny when it’s all in one unit too. It adds a lot of charm and character to what’s otherwise just a circuit board with a raspberry printed on it.
Hey you kids! get off my lawn!
its nice. Definately going to preorder one. Just noticed that the logo on their site ( the bands of colour) is the same as the ZX Spectrums.
I don’t like it. Looks childish. But I love this one http://goo.gl/MAqov It is a little bit expensive but it is worth that money.
