Amazon's Android Appstore Now Live in the UK, Free Apps in Tow

By Gary Cutlack on at

Finally, after many months of US exclusivity, tempting free apps, discounts and more for the Americans, Amazon has unlocked its Android Appstore for use over here.

Android users in Italy, France, Spain and Germany may also now browse Amazon's Android app listings in their special European currency, with the standalone Amazon app the best way to do so. You'll need to install Amazon's Appstore app on your phone, which is downloaded through an email or SMS link direct from Amazon's servers.

The US tradition of offering a free paid app every day continues over here too, with the ad-free version of Rovio's Angry Birds the first free app for us lot. Consider us hooked. [Amazon]
