When it was time for Serena Thompson—a contributing editor at Country Living Magazine—to upgrade her farmhouse kitchen, she wanted to find ways to maximise the space while still keeping it functional. Which led to the creation of this fantastic cutting board drawer that sits atop a second bag-lined drawer for catching food scraps.
You will have to get used to bending over a few extra inches before attacking your fruits and veggies with your blade, but that small inconvenience is more than outweighed by having a permanent place to store your cutting boards so they’re always at the ready. What’s even more awesome is that the drawers are spring loaded, so if your hands are full or dirty, you just need to bump them and they’ll automatically slide out. Genius.

Trophy kitchen for a trophy wife. Both of which are terribly impractical.
So after you’ve used it a few times and scored the wood with the knife blade allowing bacteria to build up you… what?… Buy a new kitchen I suspect.
I’m sure it would have been simpler to just shove half a dozen cutting boards in that drawer space and if you want to be imaginative cut a semicircle out of one edge so stuff can be swept into the bin cleaner.
