Google Adds Bike Directions for Lost UK Cyclists

By Gary Cutlack on at

Google's updated its excellent Android Maps app again, this time adding turn-by-turn directions and voice navigation designed specifically to keep cyclists on the prettier parts of the map.

The update builds upon its previous inclusion of cycle routes in the mapping mobile app, with the green, bike-friendly guidelines now covering some 330,000 miles around the US, Canada and Europe. Maps now show dedicated cycle lanes, bike-only routes and roads recommended for biking, with the accompanying Navigation satnav tool able to compute the best route around the green pathways.

If you're so amazingly fit you can manage to ride a bike far enough away from home to risk getting lost, it'll be well useful. [Google]
