With Windows 8 just around the corner, HP had been flashing an unannounced tablet in ad as of late. Now they’re beginning to acknowledge its existence in no uncertain terms, with some lofty talk.
In an interview with CRN, sales VP John Solomon claims it will use “unique intellectual property. How mysterious! What could this mythological technology even be? Knowing HP, probably an integrated Laserjet printer. (We kid, we think.) Will the tablet be bogged down by enterprise bulk like the supposedly leaked HP Slate? Hopefully, it’ll be something more consumer friendly. [CRN]

New Windows, new bloatware. So the cycle keeps going on and on…
Don’t you think you should call it pathetic when you actually know what it is? I’m sure if this was Apple you wouldn’t be like that. You don’t need to be all positive about it if you don’t think it’s going to be anything worthwhile, but there’s no need to be a dick about it.
BUT HAVEN’T YOU HEARD?! The dock connector on the iPhone is GETTING SMALLER! Everything else pales in comparison!
HOLY COW, REALLY? Thanks for letting me know! I must have missed all of the several articles covering it. I must have been too busy reading the one about what a mock up iphone 5 looks like in someone’s hand to notice. Silly me.
Some of the articles this site posts are a joke this 1 for example…. yet i have had to ignore around 800 posts in the last 3 months with snapshots of Apple dock…. Apple screens….. photoshops of Iphones at 4″…. and pictures of bloody empty bodies without titles anything like this.
You know what, I completely agree. It’s getting really sad around here, and if you mention anything about the pro-Apple agenda you get told to sod off, people like it.
Looking at the screen shot above of the HP slate, what’s wrong with it? It looks like a, competitive business originated slate PC? Might not set the world alight, but so what. It’s certainly not “pathetic”
Yep….
Hp says it will release unique features on windows 8 – how pathetic….
Apple takes an App from the App store… renames it Siri… limits it to new Devices only so it can sell more…. Must post 500 articles on siri!!!!!
Apple might be releasing a 7″ tablet – lets make 100 different articles about every tiny detail.
Here’s one saying it’s using a screen – WOW
How about a article showing a image of how it might look, possibly, well maybe.
Hey, we haven’t talked about the bezel, we need an article on that NOW!!!
It’s unfortunately the marketplace. The job of Gizmodo’s editors is to increase visitors to the site and Apple stories, no matter how trivial, do exactly that.
Yes, I do understand that they need page hits and Apple articles get page hits, but a balanced view on the subject matter would be nice.
Not really, 3 of the most viewed articles on ZDNET (a very apple Biased site) are all windows 8 related. 2 of the most discussed are Windows 8.
I get that the stories bring people in, i don’t really mind skipping past them, what i don’t like is that they marvel at all the tiny little changes over and over even when its speculation. Yet for no reason at all slate HP over stating that they will be releasing unique tablets.
Agreed, I don’t mind skipping the Apple stories, as I have little to no interest in them. What I really get annoyed at is how the Apple bias are bleeding into other articles.
Is there any tech website that just reports the news? I want to be kept unto date, I don’t want your pro-Apple agenda ramped down my throat. I moved to Gizmodo UK as my main tech site, because in the early days they did a good job of getting a good balance, but lately they have got sucked into sensationalist crap.
They are at the moment, but in the long run Apple stories still win out.
I agree with you, though, that the amount of traffic a topic generates should not be the only determinant of whether to post it or not. The Daily Mail gets the most visits of any newspaper website but that doesn’t mean that other websites should start using low-level bigotry and pictures of people in swimsuits to start getting hits.
I don’t even understand what this article is saying.
