Normally when someone starts spouting grandiose claims on the internet they’re talking rubbish, but Kim Dotcom has a history of going big. He’s about to relaunch Megaupload as a “massive global network” to “turn this world upside down”. Now, that’s fighting talk, Kim.

It’s unclear exactly what Dotcom’s plan is, although it involves a filesharing system, and the ability for outside hosters to hook up to the system to provide servers and bandwidth. It’ll also apparently be free, with multiple Mega tools, a Mega API, and outside developer access. It’ll also have free, one-click on-the-fly encryption for all your uploading needs, for the paranoid, or, err, pirates among us. It’s apparently going to be an all-inclusive system, well, almost all-inclusive. Hosters in the US aren’t welcome, and considering how much trouble the US is causing in Dotcom’s life, I’m not surprised.

Blimey, with all that bluster the revitalised MegaUpload better be bloody marvellous, or Dotcom will be sunk back into the ranks of the crap-spouting internet annoyers.
