On the face of it, not a lot is changing for the next generation iPhone, well, in design aesthetic at least. Which is great news for those of us stuck with an iPhone 4 or 4S, because you can turn it into a pretty convincing iPhone 5 with just a quick mod.
For under £20, with free shipping, you can turn your so-last-generation iPhone into a brand new, not even released yet, fake iPhone 5. The “kit”, which just looks like a change of back plate plus some screw drivers, is based on the two-tone iPhone 5 rumours flying around. It looks pretty good, as replacement back plates go, with the seller claiming the “camera glass lens [is] of [the] same quality as original iPhone back panel”. I can’t tell you whether that’s true or not, but if you’re looking for a new look for your ageing iPhone; want to replace a smashed back, or just want to make it look like you’re way ahead of the curve, £20 isn’t all that much of a punt. Believe it or not some people will pay +£500 for this in a months time.
Do they also provide a mini rack for stretching it out?
I doubt it, but expect a new case for £40 that has magnified glass and some black bars to make it look bigger to the untrained, partially-sighted eye.
I still stand by my desire for the light-up apple logo. I’d buy the iphone 5 if that was literally the only change they’d made.
Isn’t there a mod that does this?
Found it:

Apple got a bit pissy and either sued/threatened legal action on the creator, so it’s no longer available. Which made me slightly hopeful, but sadly I’m yet to see my most desired feature made official.
I remember reading about that. That store seems to have a glowing panel available, you’d probably need to source/make your own transparent back cover though.

I think you should really sit yourself down and have a good think about what you are doing with your life if you even consider buying one of these.
Do you mean the fake back or the iPhone
The metal on the back plates have a terrible finish. I’d laugh if someone bought one of these, and it turned out that Apple was fooling us all along, by bringing out a completely different design.
I can see ol’ Stevesy now, hiding out on the dark side of the moon, laughing with Tupac about how apple hysteria has reached levels so unfathomable, that people will pay for iPhone cases to make it look like a rumoured, newer iPhone that hasn’t been released and may not exist.
Isn’t this going to lead to a massive rise in iPhone rumour posts in the next month?
“Is this guy using an iPhone 5?”
“AAAHAHHHH another iPhone 5 spotted! Looks like rumoured smaller connected was bullshit!!”
“EVERYONE HAS IPHONE 5′s!!!”
“iPhone 5 Review: 5/5 stars; but not much different from the iPhone 4 :-/”
(I just want to make it clear that I’m not apple or giz bashing, I just find this whole rumour mill thing amazing)
Ha! I think someone has wiped the iPhone 5 Spreadsheet
