Microsoft really is serious about getting us all to call "Metro" something like “Modern UI Style” from now on, with new advice telling app makers their titles won't gain approval for release if they have the word metro in their names.
Microsoft's developer guidelines were recently updated to state: "Make sure your app name doesn't include the word metro. Apps with a name that includes the word metro will fail certification and won't be listed in the Windows Store."
The wording has since been removed from the software giant's app naming guidelines and replaced by something generic about not using trademarks in app names, although it does tie in perfectly with previous reports that the binning of the Metro name has indeed come about because of copyright complaints.
