New iPhone Might Be Called iPhone 5 After All?

By Gary Cutlack on at

Apple looks like it might be sticking with convention when it comes to naming its next iPhone, with the workmanlike model name "iPhone 5" appearing inside web site server logs.

The logs don't give us any additional details on the phone's display resolution or internals, simply revealing that an Apple phone with the model designation "iPhone 5,2" visited the informer's web site, so it looks like we won't be seeing an iPhone 4SL or iPhone 4SX or anything similar this time around.

And with a September release date for Apple's next iPhone apparently on the cards, the final hardware really should be out there now in the hands of testers, adding a little extra weight to these sorts of in-the-field sightings. [TechCrunch via Techradar]
