Purported iPhone 5 parts just keep on leaking out, and this time around, photos from Apple.pro are showing what could quite possibly be a front-facing NFC chip.
Positioned next to the front-facing camera, the new piece of hardware revealed in the shots are suspiciously NFC chip-shaped, and are located exactly where NFC chips appear in Apple’s patents that include them. That said, all anyone has to go on is a leaked picture, so it’s impossible to know for sure.
If Apple did include NFC in the new iPhone, however, it would be in a position to take on Google Wallet and there’d suddenly be a lot more people who might be interested in using the technology. Passbook already looks promising and it’s just begging to use NFC instead of QR codes. It looks like that could be the plan, but we’ll just have to wait to see whether or not Apple is barking up that tree with the new device. [9to5Mac]

Rumoured Leaked iPhone 5 NFC Chip Is Just an Earpiece Speaker
Rumour: New iPhone Prototypes Have NFC
Apple: No NFC for You! Come Back, One Year! Maybe!
Well knowing Apple, they will probably implement NFC next year as they like to get things spot on usually… But not only for that reason will it be postponed (If it it), also because they most likely have the next couple of years planned completely so that they can control the market(s) for their technology :/
It’s great that they wait until it’s actually going to be popular. It means it’s more prominent on the spec sheet that something that’s been there for a year or two already.
I mean, just look at Flash… they knew Flash was going to improve and become popular NEVER, so waited … to never put it in. ;D!
Someone please wake me up when Apple actually ‘leak’ something exciting about their new phone.
I’m just not feeling the hype. Should I be?
Well the question is IS it Apple leaking all this stuff? Normally Apple comes down like a ton of bricks on any of their suppliers who leak stuff, but the iPhone 5 has had more leaks than every iPhone before it AND a Max Boyce convention combined. As far as I can see the possible explanations for this are:-
1. Tim Cook is not a crazy obsessive nutJob (or should that be nutJobs) and has a more relaxed attitude to leaks.
2. Apple will deal with the leakers in good time and is just luling them into a false sense of security.
3. Apple is controlling the leaks to get more coverage/interest.
4. Apple is controlling the leaks and some or all of them are fake, The new iPhone will be revolutionary and will mean Apple doesn’t have to rely on litigation to defeat it’s competitors.
