Samsung’s updated Galaxy Note is on the way, with Samsung confirming that its Galaxy Note 2 is scheduled to be the star of its showing at this year’s IFA trade show.
As we saw with the amazing amount of fuss generated by the Galaxy S III announcement, Samsung’s not actually calling the phone the Galaxy Note 2 yet, instead referring to it as just the “next Galaxy Note” right now. The news comes from Reuters, which quotes a Samsung employee saying: “We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29.”
Specs are a little light at the moment, with only some previous speculation regarding the screen size out there at the moment, which claims the Note 2 will be a little larger that the first Note, coming with a 5.5″ display running at an impressive 1680×1050 resolution. Want.
Want.
Want.
Darn it, I just got an old Galaxy Note from work. I want a new one now
Who Hooooooo.
Can’t. Wait. That. Long.
“The next Galaxy Note” ? This strategy sounds a bit familiar.
Another tedious model with another insignificant spec bump from Samsung. Hurray !
Assuming the comparison is with the original Galaxy Note, and the rumoured specs are correct, then a jump from:
2 core 1.4GHz -> 4 core 1.5+GHz CPU
1GB -> 2GB RAM
5.3″ -> 5.5″ display
1280×800 -> 1680×1050 resolution (72% increase)
Is hardly an insignificant spec bump…
Comparing to present industry standards, those specs are almost commonplace now. Also, every small spec bump doesn’t warrant a new phone, and a new countdown. Apple as well has joined the bandwagon in this regard. Just adding higher resolutions, better processors with no new features isn’t really ‘new’. Plus, I haven’t heard of anyone complaining about bad resolutions and speeds these days, so these spec bumps masked as new phones are simply marketing gimmicks.
You need to stop doing prozac the mans way (Grinding the pills into a dust and getting it blown into your eyes) and re-read the specs. Its certainly not small.
Show me a better specc’ed mobile device than that, Prozac? I believe it is the first arm mobile device with 2gb ram? I new breakthrough from Uncle Sammy.
You’d be surprised at how much technology they sit on, but withhold from the market. And like I said, I don’t think anyone’s complaining about specs anymore.
My Note has been bloody brilliant. Roll on the new specs
All samfreak phones are just the same design with little tweak in terms of sizes and thickness……….Good riddance to bad rubbish
Good riddance? Sorry I must have missed the part where they said that they were going somewhere.
