Rockstar’s just released some fancy new screens from GTA V, which we were hoping to see in the flesh by now, but I guess screenshots will just have to do. They look pretty awesome, to be fair, but they’re probably just cut scenes, so don’t get your hopes up that’s what it’ll look like in-game.
I really hope you get to fly that fighter jet complete with missiles and guns — then the pigs will pay dearly, although probably not before I’ve crashed the thing into a skyscraper or two. Now, Rockstar, stop teasing us and bloody well release it so I can take my wrath out on hookers, pedestrians and the Epsilon Program. [Rockstar via Kotaku]

GTA V Spoofs Scientology With the Hilarious "Epsilon Program"
Could GTA V Be Released Before Christmas? Probably Not
It's Official: GTA V Will Arrive in Spring 2013
Super excited about this game and I’m glad they are bringing back planes!
Really probably should get around to playing GTA4 shouldn’t I?
Well, not really. Personally, I thought it was shite.
I used to like taking over territories & buying houses. Nothing at all like that in IV.
I remember in San Andreas, I owned all territories early in the game. Was a real kick in the head when they’re all taken away from you as part of the story.
The only good thing about IV was the walking when drunk bit.
I think the issue is that is wasn’t as fun as the other games. It didn’t have that sense of humour that say, Vice City had. It was all doom gloom and gritty reboots.
It was a good game, but not good enough for the GTA series. It’s one of the only games that genuinely gets me excited. I think when I buy it I’ll take a few days off work and geek out over it.
I agree with you about the fun-factor. Just jumping in and going on a rampage just didn’t have the same feel as it did in San Andreas or Vice City
I did enjoy playing GTA4…and am replaying it since upgrading my PC(ahhh…no laggy framerate). But I do think San Andreas was just a bit more fun. Shame then, that when I went to reinstall it, I opened the GTA:SA box and it was empty. Gutting.
Yeah I’ve barely ever played GTA4 either! Seemed sluggish and boring, compared to the all-out orgy of San Andreas.
Am I the only one who thinks that GTA IV was rendered almost unplayable by how dark most of the locations were?
I hope this new installment will address this issue, or at least give player visibility options in the settings panel.
adjusting brightness helps….
Helps to get a washed out picture and not much of an improvement when it comes to sharpness and contrast.
All you get from raising the brightness is a poor visual result.
If no adjustment was needed for the previous installments in the franchise, I don’t see why they should be necessary when GTA finally came to the PS3: if anything better graphics would be the very minimum on the new platform.
I always played with the curtains closed, obviously not ideal to have to change your environment but it always made me feel even more immersed in the game.
I thought the lightening added to the grittyness of GTA IV. But then again, I hate the contrast of overly colourful games. Also, living in London, I expect every graphical simulation of city life to be dark and dreary
They don’t really do cut scenes in any GTA games, they’re all real time so I can’t help but get my hopes up!
If you have an Xbox or PS3, it won’t look this good. These screenshots are almost certainly on a high end PC
Good point. I’ll just have to wait for some solid gameplay footage D:
hope it takes some cues from just cause 2, i enjoyed alot of gta4, but i kept going back and back to just mess around in just cause, it just felt so fun, that element definitely needs to be brought back
Gizmodo should really hire me sometime soon… anyone want a nice little peek at the screenshots?? f*** that… heres a trailer

Rockstar in general don’t do Pre-rendered cut-scenes, especially when it comes to the GTA series, I think it’s pretty safe to say these are in game graphics.
