Boy racers are bad enough when they get behind the wheel of their first crap-box, but then they grow up and buy expensive, fast cars, and it all gets a hell of a lot worse. BMW M3 drivers are notorious; this stupid idiot shows us just why, and gets what he deserves.
The YouTube poster, thankfully, says no one got hurt, well, no human at least. I doubt that sweet M3 made it out of there alive, the poor thing; it’s not like it’s the car’s fault that its moron-of-a-driver decided to undercut someone at speed, and in the torrential rain. Asking for it much? [YouTube via Jalopnik]

Why You Shouldn't Forget About Latency
This Cube Made of Gears Shouldn't Work, But It Does
The One Styrofoam Object You Shouldn't Dispose Of
That’s not gone well..
HAHA.. being on the other side of the road, this is an undertaking move, which is stupid at the best of times and the M3 driver was a tad silly as thats a hard car to spin even at 100 given all the gadgets and great rubber etc.. (however nothing here to show that he was speeding, just going to fast for the wet maybe!) my guess is they came up faster than the “lane-hog with the camera on” (notice car in middle is keeping same distance or pulling away an no cars in inside lane!) tried to make the point by ball round the said lane hog and at my best guess (as a 30yo boy toss pot myself) touched the brake as they changed lane back in, causing the car to lose control.. never touch the break while turning the wheel even in the dry let alone the wet!
Other side of the road?
Wrong side of the road more like
Your probably right, and he probably got the break just has he went across the lines in the road… would of made it that lil bit easier to break the traction.
“Boy racers are bad enough ” – Giz a BMW M3 crashed not a boy racer… why bring it up? I can’t be bothered to go into details but from my perspective boy racers are no more of a danger on the road than any other person. In fact, probably less so. If they are a real hobbyist they will spend a lot of time driving. IMO, likely giving them a better chance at handling an out of control car and probably even better vision when it comes to avoiding accidents. Theres a lot worse drivers in gen pop than in what you would call the “boy race scene”.
and yes the stigma really turns my cogs i hate the crappy stereotype.
I have to agree with this! I have a Golf GTi Mk5, i do drive quick , i always have, My mum often tells me that i drive too fast and should think about my actions.. (im 30 FFS) yet.. she has had 12 accidents and has 6 points for speeding.. i have no points and no accidents (to date). i wont say i am a great driver by a long shot, but one thing about the car i drive is that in urban areas you cant drive that quick as police hunt you and also you kinda want to be looked at as its a pretty car. Big open roads are where we go some, 100-110 in a GTi is not really out of control, even less so in a BMW M3 (for the record i think the vid speed was only about 70). A 1.2Corsa or 1.6 Focus doing 100 is on the edge of silly as non of the parts that feed the road the wheel (rubber, rims, breaks, suspension) are built for that kind of speed and handling.
i bet the guy in the BMW is a sales rep or some office type that got a flashy car and does not know how to handle the speed.
Also there is no way in hell a boy racer (17-25) could A afford that car and B insure the dam thing.. its more expensive to insure than a porca 911 s4!
And when you get as complacent as this, that’s when you get into an accident.
chances are high.. but i assume the worst when out in the car/motorbike/roadbike/mountainbike and i hope that will keep me from having one.
Your comment made me laugh. You kidding? “BOY” racers. I.e. the show off 17 year olds that get behind their saxo 1.2 with a “RACING PRO” sticker down one side of the windshield and shiny silver alloys and think they’re a professional rally driver. Oh and the 2 foot high spoilers that cut off their rear view mirror.
I’m sorry, I don’t trust those idiots on a bike.
This reminds me of the last time I drove when it properly snowed and there were a load of idiots in SUVs driving at 50-60mph down the motorway thinking they were safe. Unsurprisingly the culprits were all driving Audis and BMWs which generally aren’t even 4WD and even when they are, they are crap 4WD so wouldn’t have made a difference.
The thing I’ve always wondered is what comes first, the desire to be a total douche leading to the purchase of an Audi/BMW or buying the Audi/BMW and turning into a total douche.
Neither, they were already a total douche… they just didnt have a car that:
a. matched their douche baggery
b. Was able to perform their douche baggery in a perfect ballad.
yup. was funny this xmas watching 60k cars not being able to move on the ice whilst my megane estate (hey, im a dad now, no exciting cars for me
) managed with ease. front wheel drive my arse
sometimes you need to undertake. like when some prick is sat in the overtaking lane doing 60 on a motorway or dual carriageway
the audi a6 one of our guys has is superb. it is a 3.5 quattro or something and drives fine whatever’s on the road. its the mercs and beemers that struggle.
Unless you get some winter tyres! I’ve got a 3 series diesel and didn’t have any problem getting up and down the hills of Sheffield last winter. In Germany is a legal requirement to change your tyres with the seasons and it would probably cut down on the chaos we get into.
Nothing wrong with Audi’s AWD system – it’s better for on-road conditions than any SUV’s system.
Most of the problems are caused by people who think that because all-wheel drive gets you going better than 2WD that it’ll also stop you better than 2WD.
anyone remember the year BMW launched the Black ice sensor and it used to ping at ice detection and the news reported that, that year BMWs where the no.1 car in ice related accidents.. theory at the time suggested they panicked at the sound and slammed the brake… lol
Happens with every new technology – lots of people who’ve never felt ABS kicking in before reduce pressure on the brake pedal because they think there’s something wrong…
As for the tit in the video, no amount of ABS or ESP is going to help when your tyres are aquaplaning. No grip = no hope.
Cars with anchors!
I never said anything was wrong with anyone’s AWD, I was criticising their 4WD capabilities.
For snow road driving – FWD>RWD, AWD>FWD, 4WD>AWD.
The biggest problem is that most SUVs don’t actually even have AWD let alone 4WD, so people drive them like idiots thinking they are safe when really they are just driving a very heavy version of a normal car.
Traction Control: ON [OFF]
Now watch this…
you ever tried to turn the TC off in an M3.. its so dam hard while driving, nav this way and then that way and down to this menu etc.. lol
However, the tool that is hogging the outside (Overtaking) lane while videoing needs beating to death with a rusty spade…
There’s nothing wrong with RWD cars, assuming nobody is stupid enough to disable ESP in this sort of weather with tyres of that size, the driver was clearly as much a cretin as the driver of the video car.
Don’t hog the fucking overtaking lane, and people don’t need to undertake you….
this is in China it looks like, and the driver doesn’t put the brakes on till after the spin starts happening, you can see this in the slowmo at the end. it also doesn’t look that fast for a motorway. i would think this happened due mostly to the wet weather and poor driving experience.
I think it was more to do with keeping the brakes on throughout and not controlling the skid that caused the crash in the wet weather. That and they were a beemer driver
We’ve all done it.
not yet… im sure im over due though!!
Why shouldn’t you drive like that? He made a mistake, so what? We all do and he’ll learn from it.
Because he could have flipped over the barrier and killed someone going the other way?! You aren’t the only person on the road!
lots of over complicated theories on here, didnt he merely aquaplane and as a result lose the rear as soon as he began to turn
and did the person videoing actually stop, seemed to drive for ages then just slow down rather than stop to see if they were ok, which would make them a the biggest ass of the 2 if thats the case
