This Seriously Frightening First-Person View of a Plane Crash Will Make You Never Want to Fly Again

By Sam Gibbs on at

Flying might be statistically the safest way to travel, but when it goes wrong, it goes so unbelievably wrong. This first-person view of a recent small plane crash, from two different camera angles, will show you just why you don't want to get caught flying low over trees.

Warning -- the following video is pretty graphic at times, with lots of blood, so if you're squeamish, don't watch it. You've been duly warned.

A group of hikers decided to hitch a ride back to base camp when everything went pear-shaped. Apparently a pocket of air caused the plane to dramatically lose altitude, dropping it right into the path of some trees. Luckily everyone escaped with their lives, but the pilot was pretty banged up.

I have to say, having watched that, it's enough to put me off ever flying in a small plane ever again. Everyone looks truly shaken, and no bloody wonder. That looks like it seriously hurt. [YouTube via Jalopnik]
