Well, that didn't take long. Even though Apple's technically in a war with Samsung Mobile, not Samsung Semiconductor (the arm that produces chips and RAM), it's obvious there's no love lost between the two. Now Apple's cut its Samsung dependence, reportedly slashing memory orders and dropping Samsung flash chips from the first iPhone 5 batches entirely.
I guess it's a good thing to diversify your supply chain, especially when you're embroiled in a war with one of your chip supplier's sister companies -- Samsung could turn around and grab Apple by the short and curlies, cutting off its chip supply, at any minute. Mind you, that'd just lose both companies money -- cutting its nose off to spite its face.
Sounds a bit like handbags at dawn to me, though, but big corporations wouldn't stoop that low, surely? [Reuters]
