RIM’s been suffering from another rather large technical issue this morning, which has seen all connected services completely broken for those using their BBs on the Vodafone network.
Vodafone claims it’s RIM’s fault, saying: “We are aware that some customers are experiencing problems using BlackBerry services such as email, internet and BBM in Europe, Middle East and Africa. RIM are working on fixing this as a priority and we are in regular communication with them.”
Web, messaging, email and everything else that requires a data connection apparently stopped working at around 8.00am this morning, with RIM acknowledging the issue and saying: “We are currently experiencing a BlackBerry service issue impacting some users in Europe, Middle East & Africa. All relevant support teams are working to resolve the issue. We apologize to any customers who may be affected.” [Vodafone via Telegraph]
Update: RIM’s been in touch to say everything should be back to normal. Still, it’s not a good sign for RIM. Solid it is not anymore.
Perhaps not the best day this could have happened on….
Actually the media may well be concentrating on Apple’s iPhone launch and Map problems so they might get away with it.At worst they will probably get a space filling “elsewhere in the smartphone world” paprgraph at the bottom of those articles.
RIM: License BBM as a third-party app on all platforms. You might make enough cash to survive another year.

Our company uses Vodafone so while there was an email sent out telling us it was down, the amount of people who are using their own phones (90% iPhone, 10% Android) made it seem less urgent for the support guys
Hang on, they sent out an e-mail to tell you email was down? obviously this worked due to you all having second devices but WTF?
They sent us emails to let us know the Blackberry service was down. So, anyone at their desks could see it.
I’m on Vodafone UK and my BlackBerry service is working just fine. Don’t make a mountain of a molehill Gizmodo.
