OK, so this is just an ad for Sky’s new 007 movie channel, but honestly, it’s a corker. It’s amazing how well all the Bond car chases blend in; roll on Skyfall for even more, hopefully with the gorgeous Aston Martin DB5 strutting its classic lines.
Next to Ronin, and maybe Bullet, Bond movies have always had the best car chases, even Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace had their exhilarating moments. Let’s hope Skyfall lives up to the legacy. [YouTube via SlashGear]

I hate that smug Brosnan..
Really? Brosnan was my fave Bond of all.
Farrrrr too much cheese for a Bond
I grew up with Brosnan as James Bond, with Goldeneye etc. As far as I was concerned there was no other.
Then I found Sean Connery and it all changed! Easily beats Brosnan, but I feel Brosnan suffered from his writers as much as anything. I mean, putting Madonna in a Bond film? Someone should be given the 006 treatment for that one.
Personally my favourite Bond is Daniel Craig. When I saw him in Layercake, the scene where he gets given the gun, I was all like ‘He needs to be Bond’. I know it’s a contentious issue, and everyone likes their favourite for all kinds of reasons. We’ll never all agree.
I find Craig not only manages the quick quips that we’ve all come to expect, but is able to kill a man with his bare hands and make it believable. I can picture Craig slowly taking the life of an enemy of the state, wringing the last bit of breath from him. Knowing he has to do it for Queen and Country, but not taking pleasure from it.
No chance would Brosnan be able to pull that off, and Connery always seemed more comfortable with gadgets and a sharp judo chop to the neck. Plus he had his odd pose while firing a gun, somewhat surprised, and firing from the hip (this isn’t America! No wild west shenanigans here please!).
Not that I think too much about this kind of thing, I just don’t have anything better to do at work today
I always found Brosnan didn’t have that cold edge that Bond has in the books (at least the few that I have read). Connery is always #1 and Dr. No will always be my favourite movie. Moore was a solid bond. Lazenby doesn’t count because he is Australian. I think Dalton is underrated. Craig has the potential to be one of the greats, as long as Skyfall isn’t another Quantum of Solice..
Dalton will always be the forgotten Bond. Sad but true, he just didn’t make enough of a mark. He was good, don’t get me wrong, just not memorable enough!
Connery is my very close second, though I think that is going on the anticipation of Skyfall. If it’s another Quantum of Solace then I’m going to be immensely disappointed.
Moore was always good, though I always found him to be quite similar to Brosnan, doesn’t have that cold edge like Connery does. I know exactly what you mean when you say it. It’s something that Craig pulls off very well.
Lazenby? Don’t know who you’re on about, never heard of him
.
Connery was great because he had the look of someone who could kill you.
Daniel Craig is a close second because he’s the best actor of the lot and manages to capture Bond’s flippancy.
I can never decide between Dalton and Brosnan – the former is too humourless and the latter is too suave.
Roger Moore couldn’t act for toffee and always looks more like he should be taking your inside leg measurement than killing people.
George Lazenby is just too… antipodean. Shame the rest of OHMSS is actually very good.
For me Moore was good because he appeared to approach it with a bit of humour. I always take his films as a bit of a comedy, kind of like the original Casino Royale.
I suppose each version of Bond is different because he’s a product of each generation, so you can’t really compare them on an even standing. Today, in our world where we’re very much aware of what goes on with regards to our actions abroad, we need a Bond who is very visceral and does kill with his bare hands (or a sink/urinal double team).
Did you know Lazenby was offered a seven film contract, but turned it down on the advice of his agent? I personally liked him as Bond and wonder what would have happened to the franchise with him in place of Moore.
Yeah, it’s one of those missed oppurtunities that makes you think ‘Oh what could have been’. Such is life I suppose!
Apparently in the scene where his bride is shot and killed, Lazenby decided that Bond should cry. The director cut it from the final edit and the footage was lost on the editing room floor. It’s a shame really, because Bond is a human and would have benefited from a bit more emotion sometimes.
I think he would have made an interesting Bond had he decided to take it.
I’m with Gibbsy here. Brosnan was always my favourite.
Most disliked would have to be Lazenby or Dalton.
How can you not like a Bond that makes Christmas come twice
Brosnan’s Bond always was a cunning linguist

Well you can’t fault their optimism.
Slick, but still doesn’t make up for Sky stealing our Bonds from ITV!
(I suppose the only good thing to come from this is that ITV’s been playing Bonds in HD almost back to back these last few weeks, so I’ve been recording a poor man’s version of the upcoming Blu Ray set!
)
