The nasty man who launched a staggeringly wide-ranging series of attacks on Nicola Brookes through Facebook has been identified, with police revealing the crazed social stalker is a copper from Birmingham.
The stalker, who Facebook was recently ordered to identify, created a web of fake Facebook pages upon which he variously described Brookes as a prostitute and drug user, also using the social site to send abusive messages to her and her friends.
The 32-year-old serving West Midlands Police officer currently believed responsible has been charged with the "misuse of a computer" and released on bail, although police say they're not looking into wrong use of official police computers, so it looks like he did it all in his spare time. It was a hobby. [MacWorld]
