Drawing a perfect circle is maybe the hardest thing one can do with a pen in hand. A straight line, while much easier to accomplish, is still a chore for some. With that in mind, designer Sunghoon Jung has dreamed up a concept for a tape measure that not only has a line guide in the middle of the tape, but also a series of dots you can anchor your writing instrument to so that you can scrawl a geometrically perfect circle. It doesn’t hurt that the thing is easy on the eyes as well. [Yanko Design]

What was wrong with a compass?
Compasses break easily, can easily loosen, wobble about and mess up your circles, and often give you a fainter line than you’d hope for. I’m fed up with them. It’s also extremely difficult to get accurate radii on them. Or at least those are my experiences with the wretched things.
Try buying a good compass with a thumbwheel rather than the cheap bits of crap you get in children’s geometry sets.
+1
i used to have a rotring one that was superb. double angled too. i bet it was cheaper than this thing as well.
I did technical drawing in school and having a good quality compass was imperative.

I’d never actually seen those before. Strange. Either way, I still prefer this idea to a compass.
This thing looks cool, but try drawing a circle with a large radius and that tape measure will crumple like all the other hussy tape measures.
I think you mean ‘fold like a cheap hooker who got hit in the stomach by a fat guy with sores on his face‘
How do you shorten your links? linkamabob
never mind I figured it out lol
I’ve got a tape measure somewhere with a fold out spike and a hole at the end of the tape, no need to have multiple holes. The line guide is also over complicated, the tape already has two reasonably straight edges. If you can’t hold a pencil against those you really shouldn’t be doing DIY.
That’s definitely not a 30m tape measure either, more like 5m.
