Looks like Valve’s cooking up a treat over at HQ, with rumours that a Steam beta for Linux is literally just around the corner. The entry is very sparse at moment, but history tells us that once up on Open Steam Works, it’s only a matter of time before it is released. What’s next? A Linux SteamBox perhaps? [PC GamesN]

Steam's Big Picture TV Mode Launches in Beta for Casual PC Gamers
DNA Is The Linux Of The Natural World
Behold: The Tricorder Is Real and It Runs Linux
Not been excited about something like this for a while.
I unashamedly have a semi reading this.
That comment deserves a +2
Only yesterday was I attempting various methods to get steam to work on Linux, none of which worked particularly well.
Hopefully this should also mean Linux support for Valve games and more besides.
Between this and ‘Black Mesa’ I literally just squealed in delight.
I’ve tried to move solely over to a Linux working environment several times, each time I’m held back by a couple of things that consistently eat at me until I once again revert to Windows. The biggest of these is not being able to play a few rounds of CSS or a few turns of Civ 5 in my breaks from work. Wine and similar emns just don’t cut it.
Been following this in anticipation for a while. Amazing news for gamers and the open source community as a whole.
