Opt-In Internet Porn Consultation Closes This Week

The decision on whether you'll have to specifically request your internet pornography from your ISP is near, with the government's consultation on the "opt-in" filtering option ending today.

The Department for Education says over 2,000 people have submitted their opinions on the controversial plans, which would/could require ISPs to ask all customers whether they want porn content -- or at least all stuff the filters decide is porn -- blocked before it gets to their homes.

At the moment, some ISPs ask new users whether they'd like the sexy, ruder version of the internet when they sign a new contract, with one of the possible future plans being to ask everyone with an internet connection to regularly confirm their web porn preferences. [BBC]
