343 Industries, the studio producing the latest instalment in the Halo franchise, has put together a making-of documentary for Halo 4. But instead of the normal, drab and dreary talking heads that bore you to death, it plays more like a massive, 10-minute Halo 4 trailer, and is well worth a watch.
I don’t know about you, but after seeing that, I’m stocked for the Master Chief’s return. OK, it’s not Bungie at the helm, but from what I’ve seen so far I don’t think that’s going to matter. Not long to go now, just a couple of months to see if Microsoft made a massive mistake turfing Bungie out and pushing on with Halo. [YouTube via Kotaku]

Stoked, not stocked.
Maybe he’s all prepared with his field rations and landmines.
Braille on his chestplate? Who’s going to be fingering his chestplate?
Pretty sure that’s the second time I’ve seen ‘fingering’ on Gizmodo in two days. My brain needs to grow up.
I’m completely with you there, it was in an article yesterday wasn’t it?
It’s nice to know there’s someone else as immature as me!

That’s the badger!
Oops, I definitely read that as Master Chef. I was wondering what that had to do with Halo…
IIRC, Microsoft didn’t turf Bungie out, Bungie bought themselves out so they could work on other, non-Halo projects. But 343 Industries does seem to now be made up of many of the very vocal/passionate ex-Bungie staff. As a Halo fan, I’m not so much worried by the change in developer as I am about the way they tell stories. In my opinion, much better ways of telling stories have been pioneered (even in the FPS genre) over the last few years, and whilst I enjoy the Halo story as a whole, through the games it can get pretty convoluted, especially when you include the books/comics/animated stuff as well, I’m hoping for a well told story, and without another level like the Library or Cortana would be nice!
I always loved the Warhammer 40k franchise. Shame Bungie got there first and made a game out of it.
