Better still get the double T3 Award winning Nexus 7 tablet for less that £200. It is after all a year for the underdogs of tech.
It’s about time the underdogs of tech had their year!
Yes, and according to sources familiar with the matter this is it.
how good are ipads and nexus for people with say parkinson’s disease? my dad suffers and i think one would be pretty good for him.
Hmm, I would say for ease the iPad, but as the Nexus is lighter and smaller (and cheaper) than the iPad I would probably go for that. Or wait for the iPad mini (if true) and see what that is like.
How bad are his tremors/general motor skills and what is he likely to use it for?
not sure. i just think it would be a nice toy for someone who spends so much time sitting down
his tremors arent too bad with medication. he can use a mouse for example.
I’d say the iPad would be better, bigger screen an all that jazz. After buying my grandparents an iPad I can say that that’d be the one to go for, they’re much more involved online seeing as family is all over the world, it’s great for them, nice and simple and much faster than a comparable laptop.
I don’t like Apple and I’m not a huge fan of iPads, but it was the best choice for them, for someone with parkinsons I’d say that small screen and high resolution on the Nexus will be a hinderance more than anything.
Faster, cheaper (price to performance) in tech and in power usage, and with a simple UI. Hell, an iPad 2 would even be great.
cheers guys. i think i will take him to an apple store to see how he does.
Glad we could help. I hope your dad enjoys whatever you get him.
The word iPad and cheap seldom go together.
