It’s a year today since former Apple CEO Steve Jobs passed. Apple has posted a moving video tribute on the front page of its website, which remembers his enthusiasm and determination.
Tim Cook has also posted a letter on the site, reflecting on Steve’s life and the past year. He explains how it’s been a “sad and difficult” time for everyone at Apple, pointing out that the company’s “values originated from Steve and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.” [Apple]

I just sicked up my lunch.
it was a bit rubbish and underwhelming (bit like the iPhone 5 launch).
..
Ba da boom……..Tish
I like Steve Jobs. This was a poor video.
I thought the video was brilliant. The Starbucks call just showed how comfortable he was demoing Apple products in front of huge audiences.
While I think Apple has slipped a bit I’m sure there are many more things to come from them. If they can reinvent a market like they did the tablet market they’re going to continue doing very well.
That’s a pretty big ‘if’
No, this is a pretty big IF
That’s not a Knife!
I see you’ve played knifey-ify before.
This is a knife: http://tinyurl.com/buc6myn
HOLY CRAP!
A knife that large is just unnecessary for those tomatoes.
Necessary? Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine?!
No, but I do it anyway because it’s sterile and I like the taste.
I’m pretty certain people were saying if before the iPad came out, and look where that got the market.
Haters will never agree, they forget. If it wasn’t for Steve Jobs and Jonny Ives would the be using a galaxy tab or other android tablet right now? I think not!
how lovely, almost as good as those for L Ron Hubbard and Kim Jong Il. He was such an inspiration for all those other aspiring megalomaniac control freaks with overinflated egos who are looking for hordes of mindless followers.
The cynicism is strong in this one!
Wow, you’ve got a pretty small mind if you’re comparing Steve Jobs to Kim Jong Ill. Kim managed a country, didn’t bring anything new and didn’t really make anything better.
Apple made the tablet market what it is today and if you’re going to call everyone following Apple mindless followers then you’re probably also talking about a lot of companies out there too.
Obviously it doesn’t take much to look good in this Apple hating community but the way you’ve put it just shows how ignorant you really are.
Ignore him he’s a shallow minded idiot, Steve changed everyone’s lives and the tech world wouldn’t be where it is right now if it wasn’t for him setting the standard.
To be fair, I don’t think he was being literal, I read a sense of sarcasm in that post.
Don’t take everything so personal or get annoyed about it, I take the piss out of Apple and I would expect nothing Less than apple fans to take the piss out of me back, its all harmless banter.
If you get upset because somebody said something horrible about Steve Jobs or Apple products, then may I suggest that you are overly emotionally involved with an inanimate object(s) and the company that manufacture them.
If you are over serious people will take the piss more, give as good as you get and take non of it to heart, its all good fun.
and that’s just my opinion
To be honest, if you look at the way things are, people put more effort into hating Apple products that Apple fans do loving them.
It is purely people’s ignorance that annoys me.
Yes I agree with the effort, but from my point of view its not effort when you are having a laugh or a bit of banter, as its funny. (I tend not to be serious very often, it’s not healthy
).
I honestly don’t see the ignorance in the above post, yes he compared Apple fans to the followers of dictators, but its tongue in cheek and he’s playing on a stereotype that is recognised by the majority of people.
I just don’t see ignorance in his post.
Couldn’t have put it any better! The haters are all here, why not go and comment on the issue about the Sony waterproofing on tablet cock up for android! Very quiet on that article!
Hey. if Apple had the same problem, it would be a feature
You know it would be much bigger news, no body can deny that, Apple generates revenue for the tech blogs as well as for itself, but anyone who claims to own a waterproof iPad shouldn’t test it!
Nice. It seems like quite an unusual thing to do. In some ways it doesn’t seem like a year, but in others the notion of a ‘post Jobs’ Apple seems to be fairly well established.
Even in death Steve Jobs is continuing to force quicktime on me. GO AWAY QUICKTIME!
Haha I took great joy in uninstalling Quicktime and iTunes a few months ago. Even though it makes getting legal music much harder it was worth it!
QuickTime. What an oxymoron!
R.I.P. Steve
Steve Jobs. Controlling iHeaven since 2011…….
Respect the dead, only idiots don’t, doesn’t matter who it is, Steve Jobs or ur next door neighbour, respect them.
It’s not like they can do any harm or defend themselves…
Does that mean we have to respect Sir Jimmy Saville?
I see ur point! The level of respect you give may differ I guess, Jimmy did not get punished in this life so people will discuss his crimes which is fine! But everything has its limit and the actions and words against one who is no more have a limit to what they can achieve.. . You can’t undo anything, if you dig him back up it will prove nothing, nothing wrong with taking away his honours though if proven guilty.
Apple must provide a simple way for people to downgrade or revert to IOS5 Maps or IOS5 – both of which have been blocked by Apple. Millions of users who blindly upgraded and now want to go back to what they had paid for, are now stuck without a downgrade path. Many think it is illegal for Apple to not allow their users to revert to IOS5. The problem is a 100 times worse outside the USA, where Apple Maps data is very poor.
Unfortunately, most of us Apple users followed the ‘nag’ screen and upgraded to IOS6. When a free update is available to Microsoft Office etc., almost everyone updates.
Big companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft – as the average person becomes dependent on their products, they must be kept in check. they cant be irresponsible, illegal or unethical.
IOS6 Maps Vs. IOS5 Maps – an analogy -
If you bought a car with a satnav system and it was upgraded by the car company to one that did not work well, what must a consumer expect? Especially when the car company has announced a problem, along with a public apology?
I suspect you will ask for a replacement satnav or the old satnav back as a temporary fix (and surely they cant refuse to give it back to you?) The car company is required by law to do a product recall and will also be liable for damage due to accidents caused.
Just install this and you got it back again… In addition to the ios6 version.
